At PeopleKeep, "attestation" comes in two forms: an annual attestation at the beginning of the benefit period and a monthly attestation to get reimbursed for any eligible expenses incurred during that specific month. Timely and accurate attestation is essential to ensure a smooth reimbursement process through the ICHRA program.
The US Federal Government requires that "individuals covered by an individual coverage HRA (ICHRA) be enrolled in individual health insurance coverage and provide an attestation confirming that they and any dependents are either already enrolled or will be enrolled in individual health insurance coverage." The attestation will also require that you provide the date the coverage began or will begin and the insurance provider's name. Due to this requirement, attesting to your individual insurance coverage becomes crucial to receive reimbursement from your employer’s individual coverage HRA (ICHRA).
Attesting to start your benefit
After you opt-in, you will need to confirm your annual insurance coverage. Select Confirm Coverage and then tell us about your insurance. You'll answer the Yes or No question after clicking the green 'confirm coverage' button. Fill out the necessary information and then submit.
Monthly Attestation
Since the government requires a monthly attestation, you'll need to log in to your PeopleKeep account at the beginning of each calendar month and mark your attestation on your account dashboard.
Your monthly attestation will be tracked throughout the year by an easily visible calendar on your account dashboard.
If you make a mistake or need to update the attestation, select the month you want to change and then the edit pencil. Change the yes or no answer and then submit.
How to change your insurance provider
- Answer No to the question “Are you covered by YOUR INSURANCE NAME for July 2023?
- Enter the coverage end date.
- Answer Yes to the question “Are you covered by a different individual health insurance policy?”
- Provide the new insurance company name and coverage start month.
If you fail to mark your attestation for a month, you will not be eligible for reimbursement of any expenses incurred during that month, including your insurance premium. Although you can go back and mark any missed attestations later, it is strongly advised to keep your attestations up to date to ensure reimbursement.
**Important Note: Intentionally providing false information about your individual health insurance coverage status during attestation is classified as tax fraud by the federal government and may result in penalties and legal consequences.
